What is LED Light Therapy?

How does LED light therapy work?
LED (Light Emitting Diode) delivers optimised light at a specific wavelength to stimulate the creation of collagen and elastin, eliminate collagenase (the enzyme responsible for ageing), increase blood flow and achieve a rejuvenated, radiant and healthy appearance. Here's how each LED light colour treats the skin and different skin concerns:
Near Infrared Therapy
NIR light therapy uses powerful LED devices to shine specific wavelengths of light onto bare skin, where it stimulates beneficial biological processes. NIR light therapy is similar to red light therapy, except infrared energy is invisible, and it reaches even deeper into the body — into soft tissues, muscles, joints, and bone.
The key characteristic of NIR lights is its ability to penetrate not only deep layers of the skin, but also your body’s muscles and other tissues, and even down to the bone. Infrared light is also incredibly safe, non-invasive, and painless with no known side effects.
What does each LED colour do?
Red Light
The red light acts as an anti-wrinkle and skin rejuvenation therapy. The infrared uses a long wavelength, activating cell regeneration, fibroblasts and stimulating the creation of collagen and elastin. As a result, it helps to substantially reduce wrinkles and fine lines; closes large pores; and slows down ageing of the skin.
Blue Light
Blue light acts as a powerful anti-acne treatment, working to cure blemishes by starting at the root cause: the bacteria that causes acne. The blue wavelength has the ability to penetrate the skin and produce radical oxygen that destroys the bacteria Propionibacterium Acnes.
Purple Light
A combination of red and blue light creates purple light, which helps eliminate toxins, reduces inflammation and improves healing and circulation of blood. As a result, purple light is highly recommended after aggressive and invasive treatments (such as Botox, fillers or lasers), since it considerably reduces inflammation and marks. It also helps wound healing and reduces visible acne and acne marks.
Yellow Light
Yellow light stimulates lymphatic circulation, improves the oxygenation of the cells and favours the immune system. As a result, it helps reduce redness (couperose) and irritation; regulates sensitive skin; and increases the luminosity and softness of the skin. Yellow light also stimulates the nervous system, improving muscle and tissue tone. As a result, it has a highly firming and tightening effect on the skin.
